Dale Eugene Gordon, 80, of 1408 Woodland Road, Kohler, died early Sunday morning, October 1, 2006 at St. Nicholas Hospital.

Dale was born November 8, 1925 in Galesburg, Illinois to Dale C. and Lucille (Stevens) Gordon. His family moved to Kohler, WI where Dale was a graduate of Kohler High School, Class of 1943. He then served his country during WW II in the US Air Force. After his discharge he furthered his education at Carroll College in Waukesha, WI, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Business.

Dale was formerly married to Nancy Fox of Sheboygan.

For many years Dale and his family lived in St. Petersburg, Florida where he was employed in the banking industry and later as a private commercial pilot. For the last ten years he has made his home in Kohler.

Dale had a great personality and enjoyed golfing and socializing with his friends and neighbors. He also continued his interest in aviation by frequenting the Sheboygan County Airport's functions.

Dale is survived by his three children, Carrie, Beth, and Mike; a sister, Betty Dingeldein of Naperville, IL; two brothers, Gary (Lynette) Gordon of Tipton, IN and Larry (Mary) Gordon of Waupaca, WI; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dale was preceded in death by a brother, John Gordon.

In honoring Dale's wishes, his cremated remains will be buried with his family at Woodland Cemetery in Kohler.

Dale will always be remembered for his great wit and his wonderful sense of humor. He will be missed.

My father was Arnold Carl Zersen, my mother was Dolores Zehms. Arnold was the 5th son of a 5th son and the youngest son of Henry Carl Zersen of Gresham, Nebraska. I was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa on December 21, 1935. We lived in Manson, fourteen miles west of Fort Dodge. Mother taught school at Manson before I was born. We moved to Rapid City, South Dakota as my father was transferred there by Armour & Co. I was only 5 years old when my father passed away of pneumonia at 36 years of age in March 1941, just before Penicillin was discovered in September of that year. My father is buried in Gresham, Nebraska next to his parents.
My Uncle Ben Zersen, wife Sara and daughter Gloria lived in Sioux City, Iowa so mother and I moved to Morningside a suburb of Sioux City, Iowa in October of 1941. December 7th of that year we heard on the radio that our country was at war as Japan had bombed Pearl Harbor. My mother started crying and I asked what was wrong. She said she was worried about the difficult times ahead. I told her not to worry, as I would help take care of her.
My Uncle Ben would stop by to see us occasionally. He would bring me a jar of green olives, as he knew it was a big treat for me. I also remember him taking me to downtown Sioux City to go to Matinee movies when I was 6 ½ or 7 years old. After I was remarried, my husband Winson and I would go to Indiana each summer to visit his family. In 1977 or 1978 we drove back with 2 of our children and on the return trip to Seattle we stopped to see Uncle Ben and 2nd wife June in Lincoln, Nebraska. Uncle Joe in Julesburg, Colorado and daughter Phyllis. First cousin Don Zersen wife Ruth and daughter Doreen in Gresham. We also went to Lutheran Church cemetery to see headstones of grandparents (Henry and Emma) and of my father, Arnold. Then on to see Uncle Gil in Doniphan, Nebraska and his son Robert (Bud) and wife Marlene.
Another time on our way back from Arizona we stopped at Lodi, California to see Uncle Ben's daughter, Gloria as we hadn't seen each other since the 1940's. Her mother Sara was still alive and lived in Lodi also.
Uncle Ben had given me a couple of pictures of a Bill Zersen in a football uniform at college so I knew there were other Zersens out there. Later whenever we traveled I would look in the phone book for the Zersen name. So while in Chicago waiting for a plane I found the name of David Zersen in Itaska, Illinois and I called him. We drove to Itaska the next time we were in Chicago to meet David and wife Julie and family. Then later on Bill Zersen wrote to me and subsequently came with 2 of his children to see us in Sequim, Washington when he was visiting in Bellingham. So it has been exciting to find some new cousins and to learn more of the family history.

Diane Kae (Zersen) Jones passed away at the Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles, WA on January 16, 2023, at the age of 87.

She was born December 21, 1935, in Fort Dodge, IA the only child of Arnold Carl Zersen and Dolores Aileen Zehms. Throughout her life she was proud of her Zersen and Zehms German heritage. She lived in Manson, near Fort Dodge and shortly thereafter moved to Rapid City, SD. After the untimely death of her father in 1941, she and her mother moved to Sioux City, IA to be close to her uncle, Benjamin Zersen.

Diane married Gordon Henry Fisher on June 2, 1957, in Dickinson, ND. They had three children, James Brian, David Jon, and Susan Kae, all born in Dickinson. In 1965 the family moved to Seattle. For a time Diane was employed as a medical receptionist. She married Winson Jones on December 30, 1975, in Gig Harbor, WA and together they lived with their blended family in Seattle.

In 1992 Diane and Win purchased a second home in the Sunland Golf Club in Sequim and the extended family spent many memorable weekends and holidays there over the years. In 2002 Diane and Win moved from Seattle to Issaquah to be closer to their family. In 2005 they purchased a winter home in Anthem, AZ, just a block away from their daughter Susan’s home. Diane enjoyed the warm weather, working on arts and crafts projects with Susan, and attending social events in their desert community.Win and Diane moved to Sequim in 2016. Diane loved the holidays and special occasions where she could decorate her home and cook wonderful meals for her family. Throughout her life, Diane enjoyed gardening and spending time outside working in the yard and took pride in her yard and her beautiful flowers. She had a fondness for growing and cooking with rhubarb and baking delicious pies, skills she learned from her mother and grandmother. She also enjoyed summer berry picking when she was in Sequim. For a time she
practiced Tai Chi with her friend Margaret LaFrancois who was also her oil painting partner. She was a talented and artistic person and was always working on art projects including oil painting, rock painting, and basket weaving. For almost 50 years, Diane was an avid flow blue china collector and enjoyed shopping at garage sales and auctions looking for treasures. Diane had a fondness for her pets, both dogs and cats, and even fed the feral cats in her neighborhood until her passing. She and Win enjoyed vacationing in beach areas and made trips to the Oregon
coast, Ocean Shores and Hawaii and while beach walking was always on the lookout for flat rocks for painting, shells and driftwood.

Diane was preceded in death by her mother Dolores Aileen Stein (nee Zehms) of Sequim in 1986, her son James Brian Fisher of North Bend, WA in 2013, her husband,Winson Jones in 2018, and her grandson James Michael Fisher of Montana in 2021. She is survived by her children Susan Kae Gordon (Warren M. ‘Sandy’) of Sequim and David Jon Fisher of Fallbrook, CA and several grandchildren and great grandchildren along with her step-children withWinson,Michael K. Smeltzer, Marsha L. (Jones) Morris and Craig R. Jones. She was buried in Sequim View Cemetery next to her husband Winson Jones on February 17, 2023. She was
loved and will be missed by her family.

The King County Medical Examiner's Office is listing the cause of death for a 54-year-old North Bend man whose body was recovered off the Sweyolocken boat launch in the Mercer Slough on Oct. 10 as an accidental freshwater drowning after he inadvertently drove his pickup truck into the water.
Officers responded to a report of a vehicle submerged in the slough around 9 a.m. Two divers from the department swam out to the sunken Ford F-150 and found no one inside, according to police. The vehicle was removed using a large tow truck, and divers with the Mercer Island Police Department were called in. They found the body of James B. Fisher around 1 p.m. about 35 feet from where his truck had been submerged and about seven feet below water, said Ofc. Carla Iafrate of the Bellevue Police Department.
Fisher did not show up for work that morning, nor did he respond to cellphone texts from his wife, according to police. Iafrate said the department likely won't release further information regarding the accidental drowning.
