On board the schooner Young Asiaranth, on her passage from Mackinac to this place, on the 21st inst., Mr. Truman A. Warren, lately in the employ of the American Fur Company. Mr. W. had for some time past been afflicted with a pulmonary complaint, and was on his way to the south for relief. His remains were interred at Fort Gratiot, on the 23d inst.

The following information was provided by Hazel Kleinbach, Historian of Clarkson, New York
Capt. James H. Warren, son of Lyman Warren and wife Rebecca, was born November 30, 1814, and was a native of Columbia County, NY. He came to Clarkson with his parents in 1816. The Warren farm was just east of Clarkson on the north side of Ridge Road. In 1843 he married Olivia Crary. Her home was a lovely red brick house a short distance away on Ridge Road on the south side. In 1863 he was elected Sheriff of Monroe County, serving 3 years. In his early life he was engaged in the freight and passenger department of a line of packet boats between Rochester and Buffalo. This may account for the title "Captain". An enterprising and energetic man, he took a prominent part in the development of his town, serving as supervisor for years. No one was ever elected to more terms than he. His hand was ever ready to aid any charitable enterprise and his benevolence was well known. He died in 1888, April 14, in his 73rd year, a loss to his family and all who knew him. Buried at Garland Cemetery, town of Clarkson, NY, in Lot 15, Section 1.
Capt. Warren lived for many years in the Furnold house on Lake Rd., Clarkson. It was known as the Capt. Warren Place, built in 1850 by John M. Bowman. He attended Clarkson Church. In 1860 his pew number was #48.
This James Warren was a young half-brother of Lyman and Truman Warren who came to Madelaine Island and entered into fur trading business with Michel Cadotte.
Lyman B. Warren, the father of the above James Warren and also of Lyman and Truman Warren, mentioned above, is also buried in garland Cemetery along with his second wife, Rebecca. Lyman Warren was born May 25, 1771 and died December 9, 1862. Rebecca was born March 5, 1777 and died march 26, 1859.
Olivia Crary Warren, wife of James, died July 4, 1897, buried in Garland Cemetery.

"He enlisted in Co. K, 36th Wisconsin Volunteers, where he served as orderly sergeant and had he not been dangerously wounded at Cold Harbor undoubtedly he would have been promoted to some of the higher positions of the army. A few minutes after being wounded, his half-brother, Charles Ermatinger, received a fatal wound from the effects of which he soon died."

On 3 June 1864, after arriving at Cold Harbor, Hanover County, Virginia, the troops were involved in some of the most violent fighting of the Civil War. During this battle, George Warren, Charles Ermatinger's half-brother was severely wounded and left to die. Moments later, Charles Ermatinger was severely injured, losing one of his arms below the elbow. George Warren survived his injuries, but Charles Ermatinger succumbed to his injuries on 22 June 1864.
