Obituary of Philip Reed McClymont

McClymont, Sr., Philip Reed Age 90 Holdrege, NE. Passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Holdrege Memorial Homes. Philip was born December 7, 1924 in Holdrege, the youngest of four children born to Clyde Peter and Hazel (Rowland) McClymont.
Phil grew up in Holdrege with his brothers, Rowland and Richard, and sister, Ruth. He graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1943 and continued his education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity.
On December 29, 1948, Phil was united in marriage to Ann Linwood Kenner of Hebron, Nebraska and to this union six children were born: Margaret, Reed, David, Molly, Peter and Edward. The couple made their home in Holdrege, where they engaged in the family farming and ranching operation. He enjoyed his work on the farm with his father and brother, Rowland, in Clyde McClymont and Sons, a cattle feeding and farming business based in Phelps County. He was honored with the "Outstanding Young Farmer Award" by the Holdrege Junior Chamber of Commerce in his younger days and in 1991 Phil was presented the Pioneer Feeder Award by the Phelps-Gosper Livestock Growers. Phil and Ann were members of the First Presbyterian Church in Holdrege. He was a great supporter of Husker football and loved spending time with his family.
On January 10, 2008 he was preceded in death by his wife, Ann. Besides his parents and his wife, Ann; Phil was preceded in death by his daughter, Molly in infancy; grandson, Samuel Henry McClymont; one sister, Ruth Armstrong and her husband, Richard; two brothers: Richard McClymont and his wife, Anne and Rowland McClymont and his wife, Eleanor; sister-in-law, Margaret Wiedman and her husband, John; and brother-in-law, William Bolt.
He leaves to celebrate his life; his daughter, Margaret McClymont of Alamosa, CO, four sons and daughters-in-law: Reed and Sheryl of Holdrege, David and Gretchen of Cheboygan, Michigan, Pete of Lincoln, and Ed and Renee of Norfolk, Nebraska; ten grandchildren and their spouses: Meghan Hartman and her husband, Mark Vost; Berry Nelson and her husband, Tom; Philip McClymont; Stacie Christensen and her husband, Tyler; Kazia Nelson; Molly, Kate, Sadie and George McClymont and Will McClymont; eight great-grandchildren: Nicolas, Alexander, and Jonathan Nelson, Anthony and Andrew Nelson, Eli and Isaac Christensen and Kaeli Nelson; brother-in-law, Jim Kenner and his wife, Jan of Hebron; sister-in-law, Jane Bolt of Prairie Village, Kansas; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE will be conducted from the First Presbyterian Church in Holdrege, Nebraska Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 11am with Rev. Dr. W. Kirwin Stewart, Jr. officiating. Private family interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege, prior to the services. VISITATION will be held on Monday, July 13, 2015 from 4-8pm with the family greeting from 6-7:30pm at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege. A memorial has been established in Phil's honor and kindly suggested to the First Presbyterian Church of Holdrege or Holdrege Memorial Homes. Curtis Brill, 89, of Fergus Falls, formerly of New York Mills, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls.

Curtis Anton Brill was born on June 11, 1924, in Newton Township in Otter Tail County, the oldest of eight children born to Cela Arthur and Mabel Jane (Welter) Brill. Curtis attended country school through the eighth grade.
After completing the eighth grade, Curtis worked as a farmhand until his enlistment into the Army on Oct. 7, 1944, at Fort Snelling. He served with the 86th Army Division, Battery A, 331st Field Artillery Battalion and departed by troop ship for the Pacific Theater of Operations on April 28, 1945. He arrived in the Philippines on May 17, 1945, and was involved in the Luzon campaign. Curtis served as an officers’ cook for 14 months until Sept. 30, 1946. On Nov. 27, 1946, Curtis received an honorable discharge from the Army at Fort Sheridan, Ill.

Following his military service, Curtis worked as a farmhand in the Bertha area.

On Feb. 26, 1949, Curtis married Arvilla Warner at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wadena. Later that year they purchased a farm in Homestead Township and farmed there for more than 50 years starting out with sheep, pigs, chickens and dairy cattle. Later they raised beef cattle. He attended GI school in Sebeka and studied animal husbandry and farming.

In his early years on the farm, Curtis, in partnership with a cousin, cut and sold railroad ties. He had a passion for logging and woodworking and he eventually bought his own sawmill and planer to make lumber for farm use and for furniture and craft projects. He also cut and sold poplar 2-by-4s to Lund Boat works for a few years.
Curtis served on the school board of Homestead Township and was their treasurer prior to the country school being closed. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW.
He loved to hunt and fish and he took his family on several fishing trips to Canada. He became a self-taught taxidermist and had many bird, deer and small-animal mounts.
In 2007, Curtis and Arvilla moved into New York Mills. In 2008, they both moved into Fair Oaks Apartments in Wadena.
Later he moved to Fair Oaks Lodge in Wadena. In October of 2013, he transferred to the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls.
Curtis loved spending time with his grandsons and his nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Arvilla; a brother, Marlin; and two sisters, Claretta Vandermay and LaVern Matti. Survivors include his daughter, Linda (John) Wright of Erhard; grandsons, Matthew (Kathryn) Wright of Itascocita, Texas, and Mitchell (Leslie) Wright of Fergus Falls; two sisters, Joan Smith of Nampa, Idaho, and Rachel Eklund of New York Mills; two brothers, Robert Brill of Las Vegas, Nev., and Roger (Sandy) Brill of New York Mills; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Memorials are preferred to Lakeland Hospice.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the funeral home
Memorial Service: 1 p.m. Saturday, at Olson Funeral Home chapel, Fergus Falls

Obituary of Robert E. Brill

Robert Eugene Brill was born on May 11, 1939 in New York Mills, Minnesota to Cela and Mabel (Welter) Brill. He attended New York Mills High School and graduated with the Class of 1957. On August 12, 1961, Bob was united in marriage to Lorraine Schwartz at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Wadena, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with four children.

Bob honorably served in the United States Air Force in Okinawa, Japan. After being discharged, he was employed with Erie Mining Company in Hoyt Lakes, Minnesota. He later owned and operated Metal Fabrication Shops in Hoyt Lakes, Henning, New York Mills, and Las Vegas, Nevada.

Bob enjoyed welding, and metal fabrication. One of his greatest accomplishments was when he fabricated an escape cage for a magician. He also fabricated hydraulics at a live “Fire and Ice” show at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. Bob’s other hobbies included watching baseball, boxing, and deer hunting with his family.

Preceded in death by his parents, Cela and Mabel; his loving wife, Lorraine; brothers: Marlin, Curtis and Roger; and his sisters: Claretta and LaVern.

He is survived by his children: Paul (Carole) Brill of New York Mills; Paula Rohr of Wadena; Dean Brill of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Debi (Darrin) Rohr of Wadena; grandchildren: Kimberley (Marshall Rach) Brill of Vergas, Minnesota; Benjamin (Dominique Rainville) Brill of Kent, Minnesota; Mathew Rohr of Wadena; Marcus Rohr of Wadena; Hanah Rohr of Wadena; Dustin Rohr of Wadena; and Daytin Rohr of Wadena; great-grandchild: Parker Raine Rach of Vergas, Minnesota; sisters: Joan Smith of Nampa, Idaho; and Rachel Eklund of New York Mills; sister-in-law: Sandy Brill of New York Mills; many other relatives and a host of friends.

Roger Cela Brill was born on September 28, 1940 in Homestead Township, rural New York Mills, Minnesota. His parents were the late Cela Arthur and Mabel Jane (Welter) Brill.

Roger graduated from New York Mills High School with the class of 1959. Roger served honorably in the United Stated Army from October 22, 1959 to February 2, 1962. He was employed at Lund Boats in New York Mills, where he also farmed and ran his own sand and gravel company. On August 12, 1978 Roger was united in marriage to Sandra "Sandy" Gaustad on the Brill family farm in Homestead Township, rural New York Mills, Minnesota. In the early 1980's, Roger and Sandy made their home in Babbit and then Hoyt Lakes. They returned to Vining and then Henning where Roger was employed at Surge Dairy. In September of 2001, Roger and Sandy returned to New York Mills where Roger drove for Gibbs Auto and also care taking and being a grounds keeper for and Apartment building in New York Mills.

Roger enjoyed wood working where he made toy boxes, rocking horses and wall decor. He loved deer hunting with his grandson's and Brill Crew. He also enjoyed fishing, going to baseball games, watching the Minnesota Twins games, and visiting with family and friends.

Preceding Roger in death were his parents; brothers: Marlin Brill; Curtis (Arvila) Brill; sisters: Claretta "Tootie" (Richard) Vandermay; LaVern (Edward) Matti; sister-in-law: Lorraine Brill; brother-in-law, Robert Eklund. Roger is survived by his wife: Sandy of New York Mills; daughters: Pam Schwartz of Brainerd; Jill Wiirre of New York Mills; sons: Landy (Beth) Wiirre of Miltona; Todd (Cora) Wiirre of Henning; 9 grandchildren: Tyler, Kelsey, Cole, Taten, Carly, Presten, Tannah, Jaida, and Teghan; sisters: Joan Smith of Nampa, Idaho; Rachel Eklund of New York Mills; brother: Robert Brill of Las Vegas, Nevada; and many other relatives and a host of friends.

Obituary of Lorraine P. Brill

Lorraine Phyllis Brill, 71, of Wadena, Minn., passed away on June 21, at the Fair Oaks Lodge in Wadena, Minn.
Lorraine was born on March 7, 1941 to Vincent and Catherine (Evertz) Schwartz at their home in Leaf River Township. She graduated from Wadena High School. Lorraine was united in marriage with Robert Eugene Brill on Aug. 12, 1961, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church.

Lorraine lived most of her life in the Wadena area. She was a loving mother and homemaker. With her desire to care for others, she worked many years as a nursing assistant in nursing homes. In her spare time, she enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Catherine; and sister, Marcella Kain. She is survived by her husband, Robert; sons, Paul (Carole) of Vergas and Dean of Las Vegas; daughters, Paula Rohr and Deborah (Darrin) Rohr, both of Wadena; seven grandchildren; brothers, Lloyd (Joanne) Schwartz of Wadena and Jerome (Betty) Schwartz of Fargo, N.D.; and sister, Julie (John) Karl of Moorhead, Minn.

A Mass of Christian burial was held on June 26 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Wadena, with Father Donald Wagner as celebrant. Pallbearers were Benjamin Brill, Matthew Rohr, Marcus Rohr, Greg Kain, Mark Kain, Dylan Hansen, Gerald Schwartz and Tyler Schwartz. Honorary pallbearers were the caring staff at Fair Oaks Lodge and Tri County Hospital in Wadena. Interment was in the Calvary Cemetery in Wadena. Arrangements were with the Johnson Memorial Home in Wadena, a Schuller Family Funeral Home (www.johnsonmemorialhome.com).

Obituary of Darrin M Rohr

Darrin Michael Rohr was born on April 17,1969 to James and Charlotte (Nikkari) Rohr in Wadena Minnesota.
While being raised on the family farm most of his life he attended Wadena High school graduating with the class of 1987. Following graduation from high school he attended Staples Community College attending the Heavy Equipment Operator Program.

On Sept. 10 1987 Darrin enlisted in the United States Army National Guard serving until his honorable discharge on June 12,1995 at a rank of Specialist E-4.

On May 2,1998 Darrin was united in marriage to Deborah Brill at St. Huberts Catholic Church of Bluegrass Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with 2 sons: Dustin and Daytin.

A few of his many jobs were Carman Berry Farm (owner) of Wadena Minnesota, Yellow Rose Organic Farm of Sebeka Minnesota and most recently R & J Arena of Verndale Minnesota.

He always looked forward to going camping and riding side by side with the family up at Huntersville Minnesota.

Preceding Darrin in death is his father: James Rohr; sister: Jackie; brothers: Scott, Dean and Kelly.
Darrin is survived by his loving Wife: Debi; Sons: Dustin and Daytin; Mother Charlotte; Sister: Renee; Nieces and Nephews: Marc, Mat, Hanah, Juan and Rosa. Along with a host of relatives and friends.
He will be greatly missed by all!
