    Obituary
    Obituary of Jodie Anne Steele
    1952 - 2015

Jodie was born on January 16, 1952 to Dewey and Betty Jensen. She passed away on May 16, 2015 after a 6 year battle with ovarian cancer. In spite of the challenges she faced, she remained positive and cheerful, a true inspiration to all that knew her.

She had a great love for God and loved to visit her favorite place, Moab. She was a very gifted and talented artist of portraits and landscapes. She enjoyed flower arranging, antiquing, and decorating her home for a place to be enjoyed by family and friends. She was a fiercely loyal, loving, compassionate and caring person, who dearly loved her family and friends.

She is survived by her son Jayson Christensen and daughter-in-law Tammy Christensen, mother Betty, 5 grandchildren: Ashley, Jayson Taylor, Emily, Colby and Madison, 5 brothers and sisters: Gayle, Vicky, Mike, Steve, and EJ, and best friend Linda Magro. She was preceded in death by her father.

Special thank you to the Midas Creek medical staff and Dr. John Dietlein for the extra special care and friendship they have provided her over the years.

A viewing and celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 22, 2015 from 4:00-6:00 pm at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, Utah.

    Obituary
    Obituary of William Ermatinger

William was born at Eagleton, WI on December 9, 1883 to Frederic Ermatinger and Mary Rose.

Of Swiss, French, and Indian extraction, he was descended from such noted Ojibwa chieftons as Waubiajujauk and Matchikiwish and counted among his grandmothers the Huron woman Annennontak and the Ojibwa women Wujust and Madeline for whom Madeline Island in Lake Superior was named. William was reared by an old, blind Ojibwa woman known as "Old Noko" (from Nokomis: Ojibwa word for grandmother). Indians frequently visited their Eagleton home, and William became fluent in the Ojibwa tongue.

Married Susan Keyes in St. Paul, MN on April 21. 1916.

    Obituary of Ralph Elmer Ermatinger

    ERMATINGER, Ralph Elmer (Wabos)

    8.11.1921 - 11.7.2014

Ralph was born in Sibley, North Dakota to Susan Keyes Ermatinger & William Ermatinger.

Ralph was the middle child of 5 boys. He grew up in the small town of Dazey, North Dakota on a wheat farm during the Great Depression.

He played football in high school and graduated at the age of 16.

After graduation Ralph joined the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) planting windbreaks across the mid-west. Ralph left the CCC and enlisted in the US Army. He completed basic training, parachute jump school and was commissioned as a second lieutenant just in time for WWII. He was deployed first in New Guinea and then in the Philippines where he was one of the 'Angels of Leyte'.

Ralph was given the task of assembling General MacArthur's honor guard for the Japanese surrender aboard the battleship USS Missouri. Despite the war-time destruction of Japan, Ralph was fascinated with the country and had the opportunity to climb Mt. Fuji and travel throughout the country. After the war, Ralph spent time working in the landscape industry and a number of other fields before enrolling in the University of Minnesota journalism school.

Ralph was recalled to active duty by the Army during the Korean War.

Ralph re-enrolled in university after the war and received his bachelor's degree in journalism. Ralph was employed as an editor in newspapers in Wisconsin and Boise, Idaho where he met and married his first wife, Edith Kading, in 1956.

Ralph and Edith moved to St. Paul, Minnesota where Ralph was an editor for the Pioneer Press. Ralph and Edith returned to Boise, Idaho where Ralph was employed as a representative for the United States Brewers Association.

Ralph and Edith were the proud parents of four children: Anne Jones, Paul Ermatinger, Susan Jane Ermatinger and Ole (Elinor) Goetter.

Ralph continued his employment with the Brewer's Association eventually holding positions in Las Vegas and Sacramento where he retired.

Ralph met his second wife, Lourdes Jahrling-Gezi(Lu), in Sacramento. Ralph was a proud member of the Lac Courte D'Orielles band of Ojibwe in northern Wisconsin. Ralph loved genealogy, crossword puzzles, guns, trap shooting, coffee and donuts with his buddies, dessert, hats, beer and reunions with his Airborne group. He also loved to walk along the American River and visit his family home in Jim Falls, Wisconsin.

Ralph loved his family with all of his heart.

Ralph is survived by his loving wife Lourdes, his children - Anne Jones, Paul Ermatinger, Jane Ermatinger and Ole (John) Goetter, his stepsons - Vincent (Janene), John (Maria) and Robert (Kate) Gezi, his brothers - Lem and Tex (Marilyn) Ermatinger, his grandchildren - Stefan Goetter, Richard (Monika) Jones, Nick Jones, Paulina (Bret) Slater, and Katie, Michael, James and William Gezi, Heather and Sara Darrow, and his great-grandchildren Lili and Jakub Jones, and Ian Darrow.

Ralph, you were and always will be our hero and we will all miss and love you forever.

Graveside service will be held Nov. 17, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery located at 5810 Midway Rd., Dixon, CA.

In lieu of flowers Ralph would want you to make a donation to: redcloudschool.org and/or re-member.org.
