The following is an extract from the Will of Hugh McKean executed at Gatehouse of Fleet, Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland. In his will he named Sarah Jamieson, spouse of Joseph Dunbar as his Executor.

I direct my..."Executor to pay and deliver the following Legacies to the person afternamed and designed namely to James McKean, presently in Manchester, son of Alexander McKean formerly mason in Gatehouse, the sum of one pound one shilling. Jane McKean residing in Gatehouse, wife of Thomas Campbell, merchant there, one pound one shilling. Mary McKean, residing in Front Street, Gatehouse, one pound one shilling. John McKean in Pulchree, the sum of one pound one shilling. Samuel McKean in Gatehouse, the sum of one pound one shilling.
