    Edna M. (Gallant) Poutre, 92, of Dartmouth, died Saturday, April 25,2009, at the Taber Street Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late James P. Poutre.

    Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Phillip and Emily (Wood) Gallant, she lived here most of her life, until moving to Dartmouth where she and her husband resided for several years. She was employed as a clerk for the fur industry until her retirement.

    Mrs. Poutre enjoyed dancing, bus trips and dogs. She especially loved her grandchildren.

    Survivors include her daughter, Phyllis O Connor and her husband, Paul, of Raynham; her 2 granddaughters, Erin Houghton of Taunton, and Katherine O Connor of Bridgewater; her great-granddaughter, Emily Houghton; and several nieces, great-nieces and great-nephews.

    She was the sister of the late William Gallant.

    In accordance with her wishes, calling hours are omitted. Family and friends are invited to her Memorial Service at 12 p.m. noon, Friday, May 1, at Grace Episcopal Church, 133 School Street, New Bedford, followed by burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.

    Arrangements are by Machnowski-Schick Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Boulevard, New Bedford.
