Judy H. Fisher, 94, of Dickinson, ND, formerly of Scranton, ND, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2015 at the St. Benedict Care Center in Dickinson.

Mass of Christian Burial for Judy will be on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Scranton, ND. Fr. Stephen Folorunso will celebrate the Mass with burial to follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. There will be a Rosary and Vigil Service on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Judy Helen Kralicek Fisher was born north of Dickinson, ND in Dunn County on October 29, 1921 to Frank and Helen Kadrmas Kralicek. Her family moved south of Gascoyne, ND to a farm that her brother George eventually took over. She attended school in Dunn County, and later the Haley School #2 in Bowman County. It was during her first years of school that she learned to speak English, while continuing to speak Bohemian at home with her parents. Judy went to work for neighbors after attending the 8th grade, so was no longer able to continue her education at that time. She later obtained her GED in 1995 at the age of 74. Judy married Tony Fisher on August 23, 1941 in a double wedding ceremony with her brother Bill and Tony’s sister Agnes.

They lived in Scranton and Gascoyne, and then purchased the Symanowski farm six miles south of Gascoyne where they farmed their entire life. She helped with the farming, milking, and cooking for the field workers. She enjoyed crocheting, bowling, yard work, polka music, dancing, cards, puzzling, sewing and quilting, and her Czech heritage. Of all her earthly loves, her family was her greatest joy. Her arms were always open to hold a baby or hug a child. Even when she was very ill, a smile would come to her face when she heard a grandchild's voice. Her kids and grandkids have fond memories of her famous frosted rolls and Hershey syrup brownies. While living at Hawks Point and St. Benedict's, she rarely missed a rosary or a prayer service. Her faith was important to her. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, Czech Heritage Association, Sacred Heart Guild, and had volunteered at the nursing home.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Tony, her son Sam, her parents, and brothers Edward, Bill (Agnes) George (Irene) and their spouses, and her sisters Libby Papka, Claudia (Albert) and Bertha Shiley and spouses.
