    Obituary of Ann Elizabeth Baker Isle

    Ann B. Isle, age 90, died Oct.10, 2008, at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton, Wash. She was a resident of Port Townsend, Wash.

    Born in 1918 to Mr. and Mrs. E.P. Baker in Minneapolis, Minn., Ann married Ray Isle in 1943 in San Juan Puerto Rico.

    She received medical technologist training at University of Minnesota and University of California Davis, and worked as a medical technologist at Jefferson General Hospital in Port Townsend during the 19070s and 1980s.

    A member of First Baptist Church of Port Townsend, Ann loved studying the Bible and spending time with family and close friends. She was an avid walker.

    Survivors include her sons, Stephen Isle of Wilton, Calif., David Isle of Stonyford, Calif., and Philip Isle of Bellingham, Wash, daughter Leslie Marr of Los Angeles; 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and sister Jean Baker Griffin of Texas.

    Memorial services are conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15 at First Baptist Church of Port Townsedn, with pastor Skip Cadorette officiating. A reception at the church follows the service.

    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Focus on The Family, www.focusonthefamily.com.

    Burial is in the Fort Worden Military Cemetery at Fort Wprden State Park, Port Townsend.

    Obituary of Ray W. Isle
    Port Towsend Leader - 17 Mar 1999

    Ray W. Isle, 86, former county agent in Port Townsend, died March 12, 1999, at Kah Tai Care Center in Port Townsend, Wash.

    He was born Feb. 15, 1913, to Ernest E. and Emma (Gussmann) Isle in Morrowville, Kan. He earned his bachelor's degree from Kansas State University and master's degree from University of California, Davis.

    During World War II, he served as an officer in the U.S. Navy. In 1943, while stationed in Puerto Rico, he married Ann Baker, formerly of Minneapolis. In 1945, he was transferred to the South Pacific, where he served as skipper of a landing craft. After the war, he remained in the Naval Reserve for a total of 26 years.

    For 21 years, he was a farm advisor in California under the University of California Extension service. He came to Port Townsend in 1970 as a county agent and continued to stay after his retirement in 1972.

    Mr. Isle was a member of the First Baptist Church of Port Townsend, Gideons International and the Society of American Foresters.

    He was an avid tennis player and runner, and participated in many local races, including the Rhody Run, until 1986. He won the Bay to Breakers run, in San Francisco, in the early 1940s.

    He and his wife, Ann, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on April 30, 1998.

    Survivors include his wife, Ann; sons Stephen Isle of Wilton, Calif., David Isle of Stonyford, Calif., and Philip Isle of Bellingham, Wash; daughter Leslie Marr of Los Angeles, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; brother Roy Lee of Bakersfield, Calif., and sisters Martha Maher of Cherryvale, Kan.

    The family plans a memorial celebration at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 27 at the First Baptist Church of Port Townsend.

    In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be sent to Gideons International, P.O. Box 1695, Sequin, WA 98382, or the Alzheimer's Association, 12721 30th Ave. NE, Suite 101, Seattle, WA 98125.
