    Birth
    He was born abt 1749.
  • Death
    He died.
  • Biography
In "A Narrative History of Breaux Bridge" it states that " Fermin Breaux, after whose family the bridge in Louisiana (Breaux Bridge) is named, is listed in the 1766 census as abachelor living in Bayou Tortue. He must have soon thereafter moved to the District of Cabahanoce (present St James Parish) because we find him married there on April 3, 1769 to Marguerite Braud and listed in the census of that same district and year as being there. The first record of his return to Attakapis District is his membership in the Attakapis militia in 1777. Firmin was born at "Riviere aux Carnards" (near present Fort Williams) in 1749, the son of Alexis Brault (born September 22, 1721) and Marguerite Brillot, who had seven children besides Firmin. The whole family was deported to Boston in 1775 and remained in the vicinity (Bingham was their last residence) until 1767 when they, except for Firmin, migrated to "La Petite Riviere de Montreal" near the present city of Montreal. For an interesting account of what had happened to Acadians deported to Boston, including mention of the leading part played by Alexis Breau among them, see Pierre Bliveau's " French Neutrals in Massachesetts". In March 1776, the Massachusetts legislature sent Alexis and others to Quebec to secure a permit from English governor Murray for the Acadians to migrate to the Province of Quebec. In June Alexis returned with the permit dated April 28, 1766."
