    Obituary of Michael Todd Kubik

Michael Todd Kubik passed away, surrounded by family and friends, Saturday, May 11, 2013, at the Baylor Cancer Hospital, Dallas. He died of complications caused by multiple myeloma, a cancer he bravely fought for two years. A visitation was at Rest Haven Funeral Home — Rockwall Chapel from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013. A Mass of Christian burial was at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 1305 Damascus Road in Rockwall, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013. A rosary and time of sharing is at 10 a.m., Monday, May 20, 2013, at the Ladbury Funeral Service in Dickinson. Interment will follow in Manning Cemetery, Manning, with Deacon Bob Zent presiding.

Michael was born Feb. 28, 1962, in Dickinson, to George and Agnes (Steckler) Kubik. During his childhood and through his early adult years he lived on the Kubik farm and ranch near Manning. Michael attended the University of North Dakota and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1984. He married Darla Stroh of Manning in 1986. Michael and his family moved to Marshall, Texas, where he began his long career in senior health care. He lived in Dallas from 1999 to the present. Michael was a devoted husband, son, son-in-law, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, friend and business partner. As a health care professional, he was a partner and owner/operator of Cascade Health Services, who provided rehabilitation and skilled nursing services to many seniors in Central and East Texas. Michael loved politics, hunting, fishing, golfing, boating and was a card-carrying member of the NRA. He loved to spend time on the family farm, visiting his father and being a careful steward of the land. An annual visit was made to the farm and ranch to hunt pheasant, often accompanied by friends from Texas to Louisiana. Michael was a devout Catholic and turned to his faith readily as he went through life. Along with his wife, Darla, he was a generous host to the many people who visited their home in Heath. Michael's wonderful personality, positive attitude and caring heart will always be remembered.

Michael is survived by his devoted wife Darla (Stroh) Kubik; sons: Mikale Kubik and Tyler Pelton; father: George Kubik of Manning; sister: Rosalind (Bob Sickler) of Dickinson; brothers: Russ Kubik (Ione) of Grand Forks, Klayton Kubik (Susan) of Manning, and Kurt Kubik (Gail) of Montrose, Colo.; three grandchildren: Layla, Taylor and Alyssa Pelton; many nieces and nephews; and father and mother-in-law: Emanuel and Faye Stroh of Manning. He was preceded in death by his loving mother: Agnes.

Donations will be made in Michael's name to the International Myeloma Foundation.
