Anecdotal comment by her grand-niece:

Marie was a marvelous seamstress and tatter, she also made hats. The girls were taught at Catholic school by French nuns who called them by French names (Marie) which stuck with them. Marie was the caregiver for my Dad's little sister and the aging parents. My grandfather (Philip Clancy) loved his in-laws; they were much less starchy than his own family. His career demanded that he travel for weeks at a time so he moved the Cowans to Oakland, CA, after his wife's death. She died in Chicago and is buried at Mt. Olivet.

Anecdotal comment:

Agnes was a gifted seamstress. Shortly after the birth of their fourth child (circa 1907) they left Chicago and returned to western Canada. It could have been because of job availability. Agnes continued to make clothing and other items and send them to Chicago. In the 1930's the Devereux family moved to California then back to Chicago where she died.

Anecdotal comment:

Marge was the glue for the family. She was a brilliant business woman, very hard worker, and extremely bright. She did not sew or cook and there many very funny family stories about her attempts. She had the idea to have a co-op store selling "Irish/Scot" goods in Chicago. She had her mother and sister (and others) make things to sell. Marge also worked in the homes of two or three wealthy families. She learned how to invest in the stock market. She loved family history and died in Chicago.

Friends are resepectfully invited to attend the funeral Tuesday, October 28, 1924 at 9 o'clock a.m., from her late residence, No. 612 Grand ave., thence to Our Lady of Lourdes church where a Requiem High Mass will be celebrated for the repose of her soul, commencing at 9:30 o'clock a.m. Interment St. Mary's cemetery.
