Belle Plaine Herald, November 11, 1918

DIED SUDDENLY
DEATH OF MAYME WEIBELER AT AITKIN WAS UNEXPECTED

Most unexpected was the news of the death of Miss Mayme Weibeler which reached here last Thursday. She died early that morning at Aitkin, where she had been sick a week with influenza which terminated in heart failure.

The remains were brought to Belle Plaine by her brother Wm. M. Weibeler on Friday evening and the funeral was privately conducted. On Saturday morning requiem services were offered at Sts. Peter and Paul's church, Father Curry officiating. Mayme Weibeler was the eldest daughter of W. H. Weibeler and was in her 43rd year. She was born in Belle Plaine, and this was her home until five years ago when she went to Aitkin to engage as bookkeeper with an old established firm at that place, in which employment she was engaged up to the time of her illness.

She is survived by her father, six brothers and three sisters; namely, Gerhard, Frank and Katherine of Belle Plaine; Peter of Lewiston, Montana; William and Mrs. Clara Heywood of Minneapolis; John and Mrs. Angela Durrenberger of Perham; and Christian of Camp Funston.

Obituary5 January 2016Obituary for Earl V. Weibeler, Sr., DDS
Online obituary - Joseph S. Klecatsky & Sons Funeral Home (http://www.klecatskys.com/)

Age 103, died on December 30, 2015, at a stay at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota, following a fall. Earl is survived by his son, Patrick; his daughter in law, Debra Guertin; his granddaughters, Donya (Beau) Gjerdingen and great-grandsons, Ephram and Alwyn; Taryn (Drew) Rosdhal; step grandsons Scott (Britt) Foster and great-grandsons Hayden and Owen; and Taylor (Rebekah) Foster and great-grandchildren Valerie and Calvin, and many loving extended family members. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Marion Agnes O’Neil; his second wife, Marie Caroline Olson; and just months ago, his son, Earl Vincent Weibeler Jr.

Born September 5th, 1912 in Belle Plaine, MN, to parents Frank Hubert (Pat) Weibeler and Anna Margaret Becker. He graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, Class of 1935 and practiced in Belle Plaine until joining the U.S. Army Dental Corps in 1942 as a Lieutenant stationed at Fort Blanding, Florida. Shortly he was transferred to Washington D.C. and served, along with six other dentists, in the Pentagon Dental Corps during WWII. There he met and on June 26, 1944, married Marion Agnes O’ Neil, of New York, New York. Upon discharge, he and Marion moved to Minneapolis, started their family and he reopened his dental practice in downtown Minneapolis, continuing there until his retirement in 1980.

He had a lifelong love of automobiles and was an accomplished, sparkling dancer...including his favorites, the rumba, samba and Argentine tango. Never venturing beyond North America, he was familiar with, and had driven to nearly every corner of the US and much of Canada…and loved pouring over road maps. Having flown one afternoon in the “glass” nosecone of a B-17 in 1943, he didn’t fly again until he was in his early 90’s, thoroughly thrilled with the experience. Until his passing, he astonished many with his nearly-encyclopedic memory of the events of almost the past 100 years...from the days of horse-drawn wagons and sleighs to clearly recalling the events of Armistice Day in 1918, to remembering the precise location on a country road where he first witnessed a car roar past at highway speed, to dismissing the gravity of the Pearl Harbor attack (his date that afternoon was much more important!) to a fascination with even recent developments and inventions. A few years ago, he lamented he wasn’t 20 years younger, in his words, “to see how all this turns out.”

Earl was a loving husband and a devoted father of Earl Jr. and Pat. After suffering the loss of his dear Marion in 1996, he married Marie C. Olson in 2001, when he was a mere 89…delighting in 11 more years of marriage until Marie’s sudden passing a month after she arranged his 100th birthday party.

Friends and family will gather January 28, 2016 to celebrate Earl’s life following inurnment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery that morning. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the Joseph S. Klecatsky & Sons Funeral Home, 1580 Century Point, Eagan, MN on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 11:30 AM to join the procession to Fort Snelling.
Burial28 January 2016He was buried on 28 January 2016 in Fort Snelling National Cemetery at Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota, United States.

Note25 March 2014Good afternoon and welcome to the celebration of the life of our Sister Carolyn Weibeler.

Ethel Carolyn was born in Minneapolis, Minn., on October 18, 1915. She was the eldest of the two surviving children of William and Katherine Lambert Weibeler. In her autobiography, she wrote, "Of course, I do not remember anything concerning my birth, but . . . not long afterwards that hospital burned to the ground . . . I doubt that the two events had any connection." Carolyn was joined by a brother William in 1920. William served in the Signal Corps in England and France during World War II. He narrowly escaped death several times only to be killed in an automobile accident shortly after returning home.

Carolyn's father was transferred to Omaha, Neb., where she attended the first seven grades. The family next moved to Des Moines, Iowa, where after completing eighth grade at St. Augustin, she attended St. Joseph Academy and was introduced to the Sisters of Charity. She wrote, "I dearly loved the Academy and all the Sisters . . . I knew in my heart that I would someday be a BVM."

After completing a Bachelor's degree in Spanish at Clarke University, Carolyn entered the congregation on Sept. 8, 1937. She received the name St. Carolyn upon her reception on March 19, 1938, professed first vows on March 19, 1940, and lived 75 years as a BVM. "I am deeply indebted to my religious community," wrote Carolyn, "for the many and singular graces which have been mine through the years, and for the many and lasting friendships which I have formed."

After profession, Carolyn briefly taught Spanish at Clarke during which time her father suffered a serious heart attack. Since she was the only living child, she was sent to Des Moines to be near her parents and spent the next 38 years in secondary education. Carolyn taught for a total of twenty years at her alma mater, St Joseph Academy. Her father died during her first year there. Carolyn was one of 16 sisters who opened the new Dowling High School in West Des Moines and taught there for eight years. She was also missioned at Regina in Iowa City, Iowa; Pius X in Lincoln, Neb; and Our Lady of Peace in St. Paul, Minn. She was a good and friendly teacher whose unique style left a lasting impression on her students. One of her former students wrote, "My inspiration is . . . Sister Carolyn Weibeler. She has inspired me through her devotion to others, life and teaching . . . She always acts in a loving, gentle, caring way . . . She would rather spend her time helping others than almost anything else."

Carolyn was in a serious automobile accident in 1979 which forced her to retire from teaching. She spent the next 14 years working and volunteering at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines as a receptionist, guest representative and a pastoral minister. In an interview for the hospital bulletin, Carolyn responded, "I can't wait to get here in the morning. I love being a patient visitor . . . The nicest part . . . is being able to offer support and comfort to those who are really hurting."

Carolyn cared for her mother for many years, even living in an apartment by herself to be close to her. After her mother lost her sight, Carolyn found a wonderful care facility where her mother enjoyed the rest of her days. As for Carolyn, she enjoyed the last 20 years of her life here at Mount Carmel.

St. Paul wrote, "Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious . . . keep on doing what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me." Carolyn lived these words for 97 years, touching the lives of hundreds, if not thousands, of people. In her autobiography, she wrote, "I strongly feel that listening is one of the greatest needs of our times . . . I hope to be able to bring joy and empathy into lonely, fearful lives by a willingness and desire to listen and to understand." We celebrate Carolyn's entrance into eternal life knowing that she continues to listen and care for us through her intercessions on our behalf.

Belle Plaine Herald, Belle Plaine, MN, August 12, 1937

Death Came Unexpectedly - Frank Weibeler Is Taken in the Prime of Life

Very unexpected was the death last week of Frank Weibeler, a life long resident of Belle Plaine. He was a victim of the disease rare in the north, called pellagra, which is a deficiency in certain vitamins. Taken to the hospital in Minneapolis on July 29, his condition was not thought very serious. Word came, however, on Wednesday night of last week that he had taken a sudden turn for the worse, and at 11:15 that night he died.
Throughout his lifetime here, Frank Weibeler was popular as a boy and man. Always friendly and pleasant, he numbered his friends by all who knew him. His age was 58.
He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Weibeler and was born in Belle PLaine November 25, 1878. He attended the local public schools and St. John's University, and at an early age embarked in the mercantile business, as he had virtually grown up in his father's store.
His first business venture was the ownership of a general store at Iona, but shortly disposed of that and returned to Belle Plaine to be associated with his father in the big store here. Following retirement of W.H. Weibeler from the mercantile business, Frank established his own grocery store and operated it until last fall when he sold out and retired.
In 1902, he married Miss Anna Becker of Jordan, who with one son, Dr. Earl V. Weibeler, are left to mourn the untimely passing of husband and father. There are four brothers, Peter, of Minneapolis, William M. of Des Moines, Iowa, John of Belle Plaine, and Dr. Christian Weibeler of Adrian; and three sisters, Katherine of Belle Plaine, Mrs. Clara Heywood of Minneapolis and Mrs. Angela Durrenberger of Perham.
Frank Weibeler served in earlier years on the borough council, was for forty years a member of the Belle PLaine fire department of which he was chief for 10 years, was a charter member of the Belle Plaine K. of C., of the Catholic Foresters and long a member of the German Catholic Benevolent Society.
The funeral was held Saturday morning with requiem mass at Sts. Peter and Paul's church, Father Godfrey officiating, with interment in the parish cemetery. taking part in the funeral procession were members of the fraternal societies to which he belonged and fellow firemen from Belle Plaine, Chaska, Jordan, and other nearby towns.
Active pallbearers were F.J. Keup, Frank Johnson, J.A. Mohrbacher, W.J. Gatz, J.S. Effertz, and Jerry Hanlon. Honorary pallbearers: Eugene Johnson, J.A. Schoell, C.A. Christenson, Edw. Lynch, A.A. Hahn and J.F. Schmidt.
Among those who came from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Weibeler and daughter Ethel from Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. P.H. Weibeler ans son Paul, from Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. J. Durrenberger and daughter from Perham, Mrs. Clara Heywood and sons from Minneapolis. Dr. Christian Weibeler was not here, as he was on a trip to Catalina Island, California, and unable to be contacted.
From St. Paul came Mr. and Mrs. Frank Monzel, daughter and son; Mrs. Elmer Topping, Mr. and Mrs. Christ Schmitt, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Seifert, Mrs. Kohler and son frank.
From Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Shaughnessy, Mrs. Vie Martin and daughter Frances, Mrs. Vollmer.
Frank and James Becker of Sanborn, Mr. and Mrs. Marek and daughter of River Falls, Wis; Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Mertens of Jordan; Judge J.J. Moriarty, Judge F.J. Connolly and H.M. Grosser of Shakopee; Dr. J.W. Tiede and Tom and Jim Keogh of Le Center, and many others from Jordan and nearby communities.

Gerhard H. Weibeler passed away at 2 a. m. last Saturday, May 9, at St. Mary's Hospital, Minneapolis, after an illness with heart trouble. Weibeler, Belle Plaine's prominent merchant of earlier years, and of his wife, nee Catherine Schmidt. He was born in Belle Plaine May 16, 1874, and Belle Plaine has remained his home all his life.
On February 19, 1895, took place his marriage to Mary A. Simon, who with four children survive him; namely, Mrs. Catherine Meger, Joseph, Marie and Agnes. Two children preceded their father to the grave, Mrs. Helen Ellis and Elizabeth. There are six grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Clara Heywood, Katherine, and Mrs. Angela Durrenberger; and five brothers, Frank, Peter, William, John and Dr. Christian Weibeler.
He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul’s Benevolent Society, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and of the United Commercial Travelers.
The funeral was held on Tuesday morning and was a very large one. Requiem mass was offered at Sts. Peter and Paul's Church by Rev. Father Godfrey and interment was in the parish cemetery.

YOUNG LIFE TAKEN
MRS. HELEN WEIBELER ELLIS FALLS VICTIM TO PNEUMONIA

Mrs. Walter T. Ellis, better remembered in her old home community as Helen Weibeler, was laid to rest in the parish cemetery in Belle Plaine on Monday morning. The sorrow that comes with the death of one who had so much of life before her was evident in the hearts of all the many friends who gathered at her burial service.

It was only on Monday of last week that Mrs. Ellis was stricken ill at her home in Chicago. Influenza-pneumonia developed and she died at 5 p. m. on February 19, at Washington Boulevard hospital, Chicago. Her remains were brought here by her husband on Friday morning.

Helen Weibeler was the second eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Weibeler and was born in Belle Plaine October 2, 1899. She graduated from St. Benedict's Academy, St. Joe, and on June 22, 1920, was married to Walter T. Ellis of Chicago. That city had since been her home.

Surviving her are her husband and two little children, Anna Helen and Walter Junior, her parents, one brother, Joe Weibeler, and three sisters, Mrs. Katherin (ed: Catherine) Meger, Agnes and Marie Weibeler.

The funeral held on Monday morning with services at Sts. Peter and Paul's Church was very largely attended. Rev. Father Godfrey officiated and Father Meger of Sturgeon Lake occupied a place in the sanctuary.

Among those here from a distance were Wm. M. Weibeler of Des Moines, Iowa, Dr. C. J. Weibeler of Adrian, Mrs. Clara Heywood, John Nicolin and daughter Genevieve, Mr. and Mrs. Al Blau and Mary Meger of Minneapolis; Mrs. G. J. Reuter and Bena Frederick of Chicago, Elizabeth Seigfried of Adrian, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Lytell and Mrs. Keefe of Mankato, C. L. Schmitt and family and Adeline Heuer of St. Paul, Wm. Meger of Sturgeon Lake, Wm. Hilgers and P. J. Schmitt of Jordan.

Belle Plaine Herald, March 27, 1952

DEATH TAKES JOHN WEIBELER
VICTIM OF HEART ATTACK WHILE SHOVELING SNOW

John Weibeler, 57, died suddenly of a heart attack while shoveling snow Monday afternoon.
No news could have been more startling, as he was apparently in his usual health up to the very moment of the attack.
A lifelong resident of Belle Plaine, son of our pioneer merchant, the late W. H. Weibeler, he had long been associated in business enterprise with his sister, Katherine, in operation of the Weibeler confectionery enterprise in the Weibeler building. A capable businessman with many years of activities in this community, his sudden departure came as a great shock.
Besides his sister, Katherine, he leaves two other sisters, Mrs. Clara Heywood and Mrs. Angela Durrenberger, Minneapolis, and one brother, Dr. C. J. Weibeler of Adrian.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at St. Peter and Paul’s Church at ten o’clock with burial in the parish cemetery.

Funeral27 March 1952His funeral was held on 27 March 1952 at Saints Peter and Paul's Catholic Cemetery, Belle Plaine, Scott, Minnesota, United States.
Note27 March 1952John never married.

DEATH TAKES KATHERINE WEIBELER

Katherine Weibeler, 83, well known lifelong resident of Belle Plaine, died Saturday evening, March 4, at the New Prague hospital where she had been a patient for less than a week.
