EventDateDetails
BirthRichard Waterman was born at England.
MarriageHe married Bethiah Waite.1
Death26 October 1673Richard died on 26 October 1673 at Providence, Providence County, Rhode Island, United States.
BiographyHe came to New England in 1629, in advance of the Winthrop Fleet of 1630, and was one of the founders of Salem, Mass. After residing in Salem a few years, in good standing, he came under the influence of Roger Williams, whose religious beliefs in civil liberties were in conflict with those of the civil and religious leaders of the colony. As a result, removal to Rhode Island was determined upon. The General Court issued a license for this group to remove, and to insure the permanence of their removal, also issued warrants against them. Richard Waterman received a confirmation of land in Providence, 10 June 1637. He was named among the Associates of Roger Williams in the latter's deed to them of 8 October 1638. He was one of the signers of the Contract at Providence, 27 July 1640, proposing a form of government, and was also on the Providence Committee of 18 May 1647 to form a governmnent under the charter Williams had brought from England. Over the years, Richard Waterman was very active in many civil activities in Providence, RI. He died in 1673 and was buried on his land in Providence on what became the southeast corner of Waterman and Benefit Streets. A granite monument erected to his memeory in 1840 contains some errors of fact, such as dignifying him with the title of Colonel, and stating that he came from Bristol, England, with Roger Williams, in 1631 in the ship Lion. The records show him to have been an able, diligent, and conscientious man, probably without much formal education, but with no small measure of natural talent. (Jacobus, Donald Lines and Waterman, Edgar Francis; The Waterman Family, Volume III, Descendants of Richard Waterman of Providence, Rhode Island, The Connecticut Historical Society, Hartford, Connecticut, 1954, R929.2, W314J, V. III.)

WEDDINGS/CELEBRATIONS; Wendy Watson, Christopher Porter
New York Times
Published: Sunday, May 23, 2004

Wendy Fay Watson and Christopher Todd Porter were married yesterday. The Rev. Mich Zeman, a Congregational minister, performed the ceremony at the Talmadge Hill Community Church in Darien, Conn.

The bride, 36, is a vice president for human resources at Morgan Stanley, the New York investment bank. She graduated from the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio, and received a master's degree in organizational psychology from Columbia. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Greenough Watson of New Canaan, Conn. Her father retired as managing partner in Brundage, Story & Rose, an investment advisory firm in New York.
The bridegroom, 45, is a first vice president for investment management in the New York offices of UBS, the Swiss bank. He graduated from Washington and Lee University. He is the son of Cynthia Eagles Hodgson of Harwichport, Mass., and Robin Porter of Wickford, R.I. His father retired from the State Department after serving in the Soviet Union, where he was consul general in Kiev; afterward he was a Republican state senator in Rhode Island, representing the North Kingstown district from 1992 to 1996.

Ms. Watson and Mr. Porter were on a blind date arranged by a friend in January 2003, when, after about two hours, Mr. Porter mentioned that he had worked for Kidder Peabody, the former New York stock brokerage. Ms. Watson then asked, ''Did you work at 101 Park Avenue?'' His positive response caused Ms. Watson to exclaim, ''Oh, my God, we've met before.''

For a moment or two both were speechless. Then he said: ''Are you O.K.? You look a little pale.'' They soon realized that they had met in July 1987 when Ms. Watson, then 19, was a summer intern at Kidder Peabody. ''Chris took the time walking me through my job responsibilities in great detail,'' she recalled. ''I remembered his thoughtful and patient manner.'' Mr. Porter, then 27, recalled being struck by her when he took her out to lunch as a professional courtesy. He also remembers concluding that the age difference was too great. Even so, he said, he found it was difficult to get her out of his mind after her internship ended.

On the night of their reintroduction, Ms. Watson feared that Mr. Porter would still think of her as a kid and that she would never hear from him again. Her fears vanished when he called the next day.

WEGERSON PAUL EDWARD WEGERSON

Paul Edward Simonett Wegerson, 34, passed away unexpectedly on November 22, 2016, in Washington, DC.

He was a loving husband to Barbara; doting father to Samuel; beloved son of Edward and Mary; brother of his buddy Sarah; grandson of Doris Simonett; terrific uncle to Madison; and nephew, cousin, friend and colleague to many others. Paul's greatest joy came in January 2015, when he and Barbara welcomed Samuel into the world. From the moment of his birth, Sam became Paul's everything. A natural father, Paul began reading and playing the guitar to Sam as a newborn. Everything they did together became an adventure-a morning jog, Sam's first haircut, nightly baths, or introducing him to soccer. Paul loved time spent with Sam and Barbara and centered his life on these moments.

Paul was born in Duluth Minnesota on December 26, 1981. He attended schools in Shoreview, Minnesota, and in 2004 earned his B.A. in Journalism and Political Science from St. John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota, having studied a semester at University College Cork in Ireland. Following college, Paul joined the Maryknoll China Service Project, where he taught conversational English and American culture at Zhongshan College in Guangdong Province from 2004 to 2006. While there, he wrote articles for a local newspaper and started a unique campus radio program in English. In 2007, he relocated to Beijing, became fluent in Mandarin Chinese and began his career as a public affairs consultant. It was there Paul met the love of his life, Barbara Merz. He and Barbara married in Beijing in 2011, and decided to move to the United States.

Paul transferred to Burson Marsteller's Washington, DC office in late 2011, where he was promoted to a Director of Public Affairs at the time of his passing. Obituary11 November 1918Obituary of Anna M. Weibeler
Belle Plaine Herald, November 11, 1918

DIED SUDDENLY
DEATH OF MAYME WEIBELER AT AITKIN WAS UNEXPECTED

Most unexpected was the news of the death of Miss Mayme Weibeler which reached here last Thursday. She died early that morning at Aitkin, where she had been sick a week with influenza which terminated in heart failure.

The remains were brought to Belle Plaine by her brother Wm. M. Weibeler on Friday evening and the funeral was privately conducted. On Saturday morning requiem services were offered at Sts. Peter and Paul's church, Father Curry officiating. Mayme Weibeler was the eldest daughter of W. H. Weibeler and was in her 43rd year. She was born in Belle Plaine, and this was her home until five years ago when she went to Aitkin to engage as bookkeeper with an old established firm at that place, in which employment she was engaged up to the time of her illness.

She is survived by her father, six brothers and three sisters; namely, Gerhard, Frank and Katherine of Belle Plaine; Peter of Lewiston, Montana; William and Mrs. Clara Heywood of Minneapolis; John and Mrs. Angela Durrenberger of Perham; and Christian of Camp Funston.
