Gordon Uran was born April 9, 1943 in Snohomish, WA. He passed away suddenly September 29th in Seattle. He inspired others with his love of music, the outdoors and life.

Born to C. Gordon and Johanna Uran, Gordon was raised on a small blueberry farm in Snohomish, WA. He graduated from Snohomish High School in 1961 and received his B.A. in Music at Washington State University in 1966. He completed his M.A. in Educational Administration and earned his Principal's Credentials at the University of Washington in 1971. While at W.S.U. Gordon was active in campus affairs; he was the Sophomore Greek Man on the ASWSU Board of Control, was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, the Intercollegiate Knights and Phi Mu Alpha. He married Julie Ann McCaw in 1965 and lived in Colfax, WA, while he finished his degree.

In 1966 they moved to Shoreline, WA, where he became a teacher for the Shoreline School District. He was a music teacher at Cordell Hull, and also at Shoreline and Shorewood High Schools. In 1979 he became the activity coordinator at Shorecrest. He served as an assistant principal at Kellogg Middle School, Shorecrest and Shorewood High Schools from 1981 until his retirement in 1996.

Following his retirement, Gordon served as the District Truancy Officer for nearly five years. While with the Shoreline School District Gordon received the PTSA Golden Acorn award in 1970, co-chaired the Lake City Elks School Scholarship Leadership Committee, and was staff member Chairman of the Boise State University Marching Band Camp. He was treasurer of the METRO Music Educators, and active in the Lake City Elks Club. Gordon was well known in the Shoreline community for his service in schools and at the district level for nearly forty years. Gordon?s passion for music and teaching is remembered fondly by his students and their families. Not a trip to the grocery store would pass without a former student stopping Gordy to chat.

He loved skiing, hiking, spending time at his summer home on Hood Canal, and fiddling with the newest gadgets. Preceded in death by his wife, Julie Ann earlier this year, he is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Paul Hodge of Arlington, his son and daughter-in-law, William and Pamela Uran of Renton, and his daughter and son-in-law Christie and Scott Stern of Snohomish. He has greatly enjoyed spoiling his three grandchildren, Nathaniel Uran and Natalie and Katie Stern.

A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 8, 2004 at Edmonds United Methodist Church, 828 Caspers St., Edmonds, WA, 98020. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Gordon Uran Enrichment and Scholarship Fund made payable to Shoreline Public Schools Foundation.

     Mrs. Rose Richard, Former Resident Here, Dies in Minneapolis
     Funeral services for Mrs. Rose Richard, 69, widow of Francis Richard, were held at St. Francis Xavier church by Rev. A. Lamonthe on Thursday morning with burial in Calvary cemetery. Mrs. Richard died in Minneapolis on Tuesday.
     Mrs. Richard was born in Canada, and lived in Fall River, Mass., a number of years prior to coming to Little Falls. The family moved to Minneapolis March 20, 1925, following the death of Mr. Richard.
     Two children survive - Louis and Mrs. Charles Remus, Minneapolis; a brother, Jos., resides in Los Angeles, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. Cheney, in Charles City, Ia., and another sister lives in Fall River, Mass.
