Obituary22 June 1942Obituary of Robert Nay
The Late Mr. R. Nay - Ringuinea, Sandhead

The death took place on Saturday of a well known Wigtownshire farmer in the person of Robert Nay, East Ringuinea, Sandhead, at the age of 82 years. Mr. Nay, who had been tenant of the farm of East Ringuinea for 33 years, was well known in farming circles in the Shire, and in his younger days he was a prominent horse-trainer and breeder of Clydesdales. His horses carried off many prizes in the showyard for a long period of years. At Stranraer and Ardwell shows his geldings had a long list of successes. Few knew more about Clydesdales than Mr. Nay, and he was frequently in demand as a judge at agricultural shows. It is noteworthy that he was the first person to bring the Cawdor Cup to Wigtownshire. The award was won by horses shown by him for the late Mr. A. B. Matthews. Mr. Nay is survived by his family of five sons and three daughters. His wife predeceased him by some years ago. The funeral took place at Stoneykirk Cemetery on Tuesday.

BurialJune 1942He was buried in June 1942 in Stoneykirk Cemetery at Stoneykirk, Stoneykirk Parish, Wigtownshire, Scotland.
